Somalian Women Look To Make a Positive Difference in MK

MKSWA was established by Somali people in Milton Keynes who are concerned about the high levels of crime and antisocial behaviour, and the low educational achievement of Somali women.

They believe that at the root of these problems are lack of ability to access relevant services, and a lack of integration with the local community. Most Somali people in Milton Keynes are asylum seekers and refugees from other EU countries, who have fled the civil war in Somalia. There is compelling evidence that Somali residents in Milton Keynes face multiple barriers such as language, cultural and educational which act as hindrance for Somalis to integrate into mainstream life.
